The Rite of Confirmation at St. Philip’s

The Confirmation program at St. Philip’s is geared towards 7th-9th graders, and our focus is not just on the bible and small catechism, but on Service in the Community and the World and what it means to be the “Body of Christ.” The Rite of Confirmation is all about baptized people learning the confession, scriptures, life and mission of the Christian Church. It is the Affirmation of your Baptism. This is a special and holy time for our young people in studying and embracing their faith and getting to know the God that loves them. Anyone from 7th grade and up is invited to join us! Scan the QR code below to sign-up!

The dates for Confirmation classes are as follows: Sunday: March 24 (2:30-4pm), April 14 (2:30-4pm), April 21 (3:30-5pm), April 28 (12:30-2pm), & May 19 (2:30-3:30pm). The fall and spring schedule will be released this summer. Classes will be in the Youth Room. We know your time is valuable, so having to bring your youth and pick them up for two events is more efficient.

Toward the end of the two year process, the youth will be asked to prepare their own statement of faith to present on the Sunday of their Confirmation before the congregation.  Confirmation Sunday is held on the Festival of Pentecost, which is 50 days after Easter Sunday in the mid to late Spring.   Throw in activities involving toilet paper and burying a dead fish or two for good measure, and that’s what we call Confirmation!

For more information about the process or about whether your youth might be ready for Confirmation instruction, please contact Pastor Amy at stphilipswilmington@gmail.com or (302)239-2100.
