Confirmation of Faith at St. Philip’s
The Confirmation program at St. Philip’s is geared towards 8th and 9th graders, and our focus will not just be on the bible and small catechism, but on Service in the Community and the World and what it means to be the “Body of Christ.” Classes are scheduled in the late summer and we generally meet twice per month from 4 to 5:30 p.m. or at a time that is just before or after a youth group event. We know your time is valuable, so having to bring your youth and pick them up for two events is more efficient.
Toward the end of the two year process, the youth will be asked to prepare their own statement of faith to present on the Sunday of their Confirmation before the congregation. Confirmation Sunday is held on the Festival of Pentecost, which is 50 days after Easter Sunday in the mid to late Spring. Throw in activities involving toilet paper and burying a dead fish or two for good measure, and that’s what we call Confirmation!
